The brand-new Discovery Center wows families with engaging exhibits and eye-popping, kid-friendly design-plus, of course, an impressive selection of books and other resources. The spacious center is drenched in sunlight and bright colors and is the first children’s library in the country to offer visitors a hybrid museum-library experience combining a conventional reading environment with interactive museum exhibits.

Welcoming kids as they enter through the Discovery portal is a whimsical, sprawling floor map of Queens neighborhoods, several of which trigger sounds projected from ceiling mounted micro speakers – like the cheer of fans at a Mets game or the sound of jets at La Guardia Airport. Kids can continue their learning experience by following various color paths to their preferred subject areas to uncover more exciting resources.
